Partha Chatterjee is an Indian politician of West Bengal. He represents Trinamool Congress and holds office of General Secretary of West Bengal of the All India Trinamool Congress.
Partha Chatterjee was born in Calcutta. He has completed his schooling from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur and studied economics from Asutosh College. He holds a post-graduate degree in business administration. He recently completed received doctorate degree from North Bengal University.
His PhD thesis is on “Transformation of industrial economy to knowledge economy with reference to Human Resource Management”.
Partha Chatterjee is a minister in the Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal party and is considered among the core group of the party. He is the Minister of School Education, Parliamentary Affairs.
It is said that Partha Chatterjee is one of the big leaders of TMC as well as one of the biggest trust characters of Mamta Banerjee. He is also general secretary of Trinamool Congress Partha Chatterjee has a special place in the TMC government.
He has been re-elected as an MLA from Behala Paschim constituency thrice and handles the portfolios of Commerce and Industry, Information Technology and Electronics.
MAJOR INITIATIVES TAKEN– Apart from being a professor of political science, he has also been the director of the “Center for Studies in Social Science”, Calcutta. It is a founding member of the Subaltern Studies Collective.
He played a crucial role in Singur and Nandigram revolution along with Mamata Banerjee. He also started a newspaper ‘Jago Bangla’ which is considered as a mouthpeice of the Trinamool Party.
