The Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) on Sunday expressed its dismay at the Republic TV and its affiliates for disclosing and misrepresenting confidential communication between them.
The statement came after Republic TV claimed that there had been an email exchange between the BARC CEO and Republic Media Network CEO where the BARC had acknowledged that there was no case against the Republic TV for TRP manipulation as being claimed by Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.
During a show Republic TV had telecasted that it had asked the BARC to confirm whether there was any evidence of TRP manipulation by the Republic Media network to which the BARC had replied that had there been any such instance it would have communicated about the same with the Network with supporting documents.
BARC India’s statement read- “BARC India is highly disappointed with the actions of the Republic Network by disclosing private and confidential communications and misrepresenting the same. BARC India reiterates that it has not commented on the ongoing investigation and without prejudice to BARC India’s rights, it expresses its dismay at the actions of the Republic Network”.
The BARC also said on Sunday that it was cooperating with the law enforcement agencies in their current investigation on the matter.
