The London is heaven for the economic offenders. Liquor baron and then owner of Kingfisher Vijay Mallya’s extradition from the United Kingdom to India has been delayed once again, the reason cited by Centre while answering to Apex Court of country is that it is due “Secret” proceedings which have commenced in the UK. The next hearing on the instant case will be on November 2.
The government told the court that already extradition proceedings had been completed after the UK’s highest court had rejected Mallya’s appeal but a fresh proceedings have started and with the nature of that proceedings government of India is not well versed yet now.
The court asked the Mallya’sCounsel, Ankur Saigal, about the nature of the fresh proceedings but Counsel said he is not aware of the same.
Bench headed by Justice UU Lalit said. “As his counsel, you must be completely aware. You cannot say you are not aware,” the court has ordered Mallya’s counsel to give reasonable response on aforesaid issues and by when Mallyawill appear before the Supreme Court.
