M J Akbar told a Delhi court that the statements made by Priya Ramani against him had lowered his reputation.
Advocate Geeta Luthra, for Akbar, told the court that Ramani’s defamatory statements were made out of vengeance and with malice.
She further said that there is no supporting evidence like parking receipt, CCTV footage, etc. to justify Ramani’s claims.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vishal Pahuja heard the case and has reserved till Wednesday for rebuttal arguments.
The former Union Minister of External Affairs, M J Akbar, one of the accused in the ‘#metoo’ movement, had filed a defamation suit against journalist Priya Ramani.
Ramani had accused Akbar of sexual misconduct, which was refused by him.
