A petition has been filed in a Court in Muzaffarpur, Bihar against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the controversial ‘Abba Jaan’ remark he made in one of his speeches.
The plea filed by Tamanna Hashmi, a local social activist in Muzaffarpur, alleged that the remarks of the BJP leader Yogi Adityanath has insulted whole of the Muslim community.
Hashmi has also lodged various petitions against politicians in the past.
The plea was filed before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Muzaffarpur, where the matter would be taken up in due course.
On September 12, Yogi had reportedly said at an event in Kushinagar that, “It was only after my ascent to power in 2017 that the public distribution system became effective in Uttar Pradesh where ration meant for poor used to be eaten up by those who say Abba Jaan.”
The remarks by Adityanath in his speech was launched to scathe attack on the opposition parties especially the Congress.
Hashmi sought for initiating criminal trial against Yogi Adityanath under offences provisioned in Indian Penal Code (IPC), relating to hurt caused to religious sentiments.
