Anil Ghanwat, a member of the Supreme Court appointed Committee on three farm laws highlighted that India will face a crisis if a Law on Minimum Support Price (MSP) is generated.
“Government and farmers leaders should think of some other way. MSP is not a solution. It will not only harm farmers, but traders & stockists also,”Anil Ghanwat stated.
The Supreme Court-appointed a committee on the Matter of three contentious Farm Laws in a meeting and stated that a press conference will be conducted on November 23 to announce the decision to the report submitted in March.
The Supreme Court had appointed the Three-Member Committee – Anil Ghanawat, Ashok Gulati and P.K. Joshi – in January this year while staying the three farm laws.
The Committee had presented the report in March after a comprehensive Multi-Stakeholder Consultation.
Anil Ghanawat had submitted in September to the then Chief Justice of India, to disclose the report so that its advocacy can be used by the Government for settling the Agitation of the Farmers that had spread worldwide.
Further when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced to repeal the Three Farm Laws in the upcoming winter session, Ghanawat had termed the decision as “unfortunate”.
