The Madhya Pradesh High Court quashed the Bail Application of the suspended Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Santosh Verma charged for a Forgery Case.
The Court noted that the Applicant’s Counsel could explain of how they procure the Order of the passing verdict dated on 06 October, 2020.
“During Arguments it was stated he sought information about the passing of the judgement from the internet, but it has come on record that the said judgement of October 6, 2020 was not uploaded on Court Management Information System (CMIS)”, the Court stated.
The Applicant had procured the copy of forged judgement and submitted it before the competent Authority to get promoted to IAS cadre.
Santhosh Verma had filed the application through Counsel Abhinav Dhanodkar.
Verma was arrested on 10 July under the Charges of Section 120B, 420, 467, 468, 471, 472 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for Conspiracy, Cheating, Forgery of document, Forgery for cheating, fraudulently or dishonestly using a fraud document as original, making counterfeiting any seal, plate or other instrument.
The Prosecution argued that the applicant with other person had obtained a copy of forged and fabricated Verdict of 6 October, 2020 with an intention of cheating the Government, so submitted the same forged judgement before the Authorities for the IAS Cadre promotion.
“Verma had falsely implicated in the matter. The applicant only after knowing that the judgement was passed in the Criminal Case , applied for it and obtained a certified copy from the copying section of the district Court.”
