The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has served a defamation notice to Ramdev for alleged disparaging remarks against allopathy and allopathic doctors.

The six-page notice served on behalf of IMA secretary Ajay Khanna by his lawyer Neeraj Pandey terming the remarks as “Criminal act” under Section 499 of IPC demanded a written apology within 15 days failing which a compensation of INR 1000 crore would be levied on him.

Patanjali Yogpeeth Trust dismissing the allegations issued a statement saying, “He was reading out a forwarded WhatsApp message received by him and various other members who were participating in the event.”

The notice further asked Ramdev to make a video clip contradicting all his defamatory allegations and circulate it on all media platforms where his earlier alleged video clip was uploaded.

It also further stated that an FIR and a criminal case would be lodged by IMA against him if he failed to withdraw the misleading advertisement endorsing a product of his firm “Coronil kit” as an effective medicine for Covid-19 from all platforms.
