Alok Yadav, the son of former minister Angad Yadav, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by an MP-MLA court in connection with the murder of an advocate in 2015.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on Alok Yadav.
Earlier, on April 28, four other accused, including Angad Yadav, were also convicted by the court.
The incident dates back to December 2015 when advocate Rajnarayan Singh was shot dead near a railway station under the Sidhari police station’s area.
Following the murder, his wife Sudha Singh filed a police complaint against Angad Yadav, who was a former Bahujan Samaj Party MLA from Nizamabad, along with a few others.
During the investigation, the police discovered that Angad Yadav had a personal dispute with Rajanarayan Singh, which led to the murder.
The police filed a charge-sheet against Angad Yadav, Sailesh Yadav, Sunil Singh, and Arun Yadav in the case, and the MP-MLA court, presided over by Justice Om Prakash Verma, convicted them in April.
Subsequently, the police filed another charge-sheet against the former minister’s son, Alok Yadav, who was later found guilty by the same court on Friday.
The court’s verdict has brought justice to the victim’s family, and Alok Yadav will now serve a life sentence for his involvement in the murder.
The case has been closely followed by the public and has garnered attention due to the involvement of a former minister’s son.
The court’s decision to impose a life sentence sends a strong message about accountability and the rule of law, emphasizing that no one is above the law, regardless of their background or status.
