The Delhi High Court has allowed a man convicted in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) case, to attend the wedding ceremony of his elder brother.
A Bench of Justice Anup J Bhambhani directed the applicant to be taken in custody by jail or police officers in plain clothes to attend the wedding from 11 am till 11pm today.
Additional Public Prosecutor contended that a pre-verification of the ground cited for interim suspension of the sentence was made confirming the wedding but however, the verification from to-be bride’s family could not be completed.
It was said that the convict’s father deterred the police officer from conducting verification from the bride’s family with an apprehension that they might not go ahead with the wedding.
The man had been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for 10 years under Section 6 of the POSCO Act, under Section 506 IPC for two years and Section 363 IPC for 3 years.
Earlier, the High Court had dismissed the interim bail application on ground that he had provided wrong information.
