Justice T. Raja of the Madras High Court was named Acting Chief Justice of the Court by the President of India on Monday (CJ).
On September 21, Justice M. Duraiswamy will retire from office after serving as the Madras High Court’s Acting Chief Justice since CJ M.N. Bhandari’s retirement on September 13.
Justice Raja would therefore “perform the functions of the office of the Chief Justice of the (Madras) High Court, with effect from 22.09.2022,” according to a notification released by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice on Monday.
