The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detained a Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Superintendent and three others individuals, including two Chartered Accountants (CA), for purportedly coercing cash from a Mumbai broker. The charged people have been identified as the Central Goods and Services Tax Superintendent (Mumbai South) Amit Dalal, Chartered Accountant Bhatter, his assistant Hemant Motivaras, and another Chartered Accountant named Ramesh Parmar.

It is claimed that the authority had demanded 15 lakh from the complainant for not improving his tax liability and for not taking him into remand him in the matter. The Superintendent had asked one of the Chartered Accountants, Mr. Bhatter, to bring the
cash from the complainant on their behalf. Following up on the objection, the Central Bureau of Investigation led a plan to capture his assistant when he was receiving an amount of 7 lakh from the complainant. The other Chartered Accountant was likewise caught in the act while conveying an amount of 5 lakh to Mr. Motivaras on the directions of his employer, who had supposedly been instructed by the Superintendent to get the cash money.

The Superintendent escaped to Mumbai to avoid Investigations, but was later tracked down by the organization in Delhi and was subsequently detained. The Central Bureau of Investigation conducted search operations at six different areas, including the residential building and office premises of the charged individuals in Mumbai and Delhi, resulting in seizure of 30 lakh. All the accused in the matter were made to appear before the court and were detained under Central Bureau of Investigation until March 28, 2021.
