Two residents of Ayodhya had challenged the special CBI’s court judgment that had acquitted 32 accused in the Babri Masjid temple demolition, including BJP leaders.

A criminal revision petition was filed in the High Court of Allahabad.

“We decided to challenge the special court’s judgment after the CBI did not move the high court against the acquittal,” one of the petitioners said.

The petitioners have filed the petition on behalf of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB).

A special CBI court in Lucknow had pronounced its judgment in the Babri Masjid demolition case.

All accused acquitted in the Babri Masjid demolition case, including prominent BJP leaders LK Advani, Kalyan Singh, Uma Bharati, Murli Manohar Joshi, etc.

Babri Masjid in Ayodhya was demolished in December 1992 by Hindu Kar Sevaks, who claimed that the land on which the mosque was built was the birthplace of Hindu deity Ram.

Special Judge, Mr. Surendra Kumar Yadav pronounced the judgment in the virtual presence of accused persons like LK Advani, Kalyan Singh, Uma Bharati, Murli Manohar Joshi, etc.
