The Former State Home Minister of Maharashtra Mr Anil Deshmukh reached the Bombay High Court seeking the directions of the Court to cancel the summons issued upon him to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The Single Judge Bench of Justice Revati Mohite Dere recused herself from dealing with this plea and said that “Not before me.”
The ED is investigating a money laundering case filed against Deshmukh. In the CBI’s corruption, First Information Report (FIR) the Ex-Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh claimed that Deshmukh had asked Waze and other two officers to take Rs 100 crore from all the owners of the bar every month on behalf of him.
The ED had initiated and filed a prosecution complaint with the charge sheet, against the two associates of Deshmukh’s. It had also issued five summons to Deshmukh in order to appear before the ED.
Earlier, the Apex Court denied granting interim protection to Deshmukh against the procedures of the investigation conducted by ED and directed him to approach Court which has the jurisdiction to hear such a case following the Code of Criminal Procedure.
