The High Court of Andhra Pradesh sought a response from the state government on the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in three particular districts of the state and directed to list the reasons for the same.
The districts namely- East Godavari, West Godavari and Chittoor have recorded the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases.
The bench was comprising Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami and Justice Ninala Jayasurya.
The Court has directed the concerned authorities to report district wise positivity reports in the state from the last fifteen days.
YV Ravi Prasad, an Amicus Curiae (Friend of the Court) pointed out to the state government to take particular measures to combat the pandemic more effectively.
“If there is large-scale incidence in particular areas, steps may also be taken to declare such areas as containment zones,”Prasad suggested while stating the importance of micro-level management to halt the spread of COVID-19.
Further, the Court said that other matters regarding availability of Liposomal amphotericin B injections, other drugs/injections and showing the correct number of deaths caused by COVID-19 in order to pay compensation to the deceased’s families will be heard on the next date of hearing.
The Court will further hear the matter on July 22.
