Andhra Pradesh High Court granted relief to IAS Officers who were accused of Contempt of Court.
A division Bench Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswamy and Justice N Jayasurya quashed the execution of the single Judge orders.
The single Judge order punished the serving as well as retired IAS Officers to fluctuating terms of detainment.
The Contempt procedures were issued when a case was documented by T Savitramma.
According to Savitramma, his three acres of land in Erragunta of Venkatachalam Mandal of Nellore locale was taken for setting up of an administration organization.
In response, the High Court had asked the concerned authorities to pay the compensating sum.
As there was a postponement in the payment, Savitramma documented a Contempt Petition and Justice B Devanand of the High Court, who was earlier dealing with the case, punished the concerned officers.
Former IAS officer Manmohan Singh was given four weeks’ imprisonment and Rs 1,000 fine was imposed on him.
Principal secretary (finance) S S Rawat was awarded one month jail and a Rs 2,000 fine was imposed on him.
Former Nellore district collector R Muthyala Raju got a two-week jail and a Rs 1,000 fine was imposed on him.
Former collector MV Seshagiri Babu and the present collector NV Chakradhar were only fined and no punishment of jail term was given to them.
All the concerned officers challenged the orders of the Single Judge and then they got relief.
