Kolkata Police arrested 37 people from a five-star hotel, ‘The Park’ for partying and not following COVID-19 restrictions.
“Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted at Park Hotel around 1.15 am and 37 people were arrested from the second and third floors for partying with loud music amid the COVID-related restrictions,” stated the Senior Officer of the Kolkata Police.
West Bengal with the pursuance of the COVID-19 situation had extended the statewide lockdown till July 15th.
According to the lockdown restriction rules movement of individuals and outdoor activities remained prohibited between 9 PM to 5 AM in case of an emergency only one can be permitted to move.
The police raided the hotel and seized high-end cars and 38 mobile phones among several other items like two Pioneer DJ discs, an amplifier, two sound boxes, a DJ light, three hookahs, four liquor bottles and a ganja ‘puria’.
Some of the arrested people also misbehaved with the Police Officers.
A case has also been registered under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Disaster Management Act against all the 37 people so involved.
