The Moscow Arbitration Court in Russia prohibited Samsung Electronics from importing and selling 61 models of smartphones in Russia over an Intellectual Property Lawsuit prevailing to its Samsung Pay system.
A Switzerland-based company SQWIN SA lodged a case and argued that Samsung Pay violates on its Electronic Payment System Patent registered in Russia.
Samsung when questioned about the allegation denied to comment stating that the Case is currently in Appeal.
Further Switzerland-based company SQWIN SA also declined to comment.
In a hearing dated 19 October, the Moscow Arbitration Court recorded 61 Samsung models the company was barred from importing and selling in Russia, quoting the patent numbers.
Switzerland-based company SQWIN SA’s claim was upheld by the Original Court decision on July 27, but did not list the devices in question.
Further, SQWIN SA filed an Appeal in the month of August.
Furthermore, the October Hearing listed the models which were Prohibited.
The Hearing in October Court highlighted that the additional Trial might be Appealed within one month of its adoption and that the Ruling is yet to take effect.
