BACKGROUND – V. Mohana, who belongs to India’s first batch of the 5-Year integrated law course, is a Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India. Her diverse practise includes work in a variety of courts, tribunals, and as a Panel Lawyer for the Government of India.

She is a mediator in the Supreme Court and has also been appointed as the amicus curiae in different civil and criminal matters. She has also worked as an honorary editor for the Supreme Court Reports (SCR).

Mohana graduated in 5-Year integrated B.A. LL.B. course from Coimbatore Law College (now GLC, Coimbatore) in 1988.

After graduation, Mohana joined Mr. M. Panchapakesan’s chambers as a junior, where she had also interned in her final year. Later on, she moved to New Delhi, where she worked with Ms. Indu Malhotra and Mr. C.S. Vaidyanathan, expanding her litigation experience.

She has been practising independently in the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court, National Consumer Commission, etc. after passing the Advocate on Record examination in 1996.

She has worked with renowned senior officials such as Mr. Kapil Sibal, Mr. K.K. Venugopal, Mr. P. Chidambaram, Mr. Arun Jaitley, and Mr. T. Andhyarujina, among others. She was also a Panel Counsel for the Government of India. On April 23, 2015, the Supreme Court of India designated her as a Senior Advocate.
