He represents the Hoshangabad constituency of Madhya Pradesh and is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).Previously, he has served as a member of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly and the 15th and the 16th Lok Sabha. Currently, he is serving as a member of the Committee on Public Undertakings, Standing Committee on Chemicals & Fertilisers and Consultative Committee, Ministry of Railways.
Born in Lolari, Distt. Narsinghpur ,Madhya Pradesh to Smt. Hemlata Devi and Shri Laxmi Narayan Singh, he has pursued his B.Com from Sagar University, Sagar, Madhya Pradesh.He was a member of the Janata Dal political party from 1991-1996 and the Samajwadi Janata Party from 1991 to 1992. He is the chairperson of Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthaan and has been recognised with a Sahitya Shiromani award.[2] He has been the National President of the All India Yadav Mahasabha.
