BACKGROUND – Mr. Rohit Bokil is Assistant Professor of Law at ILS Law College, Pune. He was born on 25th April, 1991 in Pune. He pursued BSL, LL.B from ILS Law College, Pune and graduated in 2014. While pursuing his graduation, Mr. Bokil successfully completed Diploma in Human Rights and Diploma in Cyber Laws from ILS Law College.  

After the graduation he practiced at District and Session Court, Pune, from 1st July 2014 to 30th June 2016 with a senior advocate. During his practice he handled a number of cases pertaining to protection of civil liberties, human rights, domestic violence, fair trial, rights of accused and constitutional safeguards.

Then Mr. Bokil went on to complete his LL.M from the Savitribai Phule Pune University in the year 2017. His specialization for LL.M. was in International Laws.

He wrote his LL.M. dissertation on the topic of ‘Cyber Warfare and International Humanitarian Law: A Critical Study’. After his masters, Mr. Bokil joined academics. He worked as a visiting lecturer in reputed law colleges in Pune and taught Intellectual Property Rights and Private International Law. From January 2018 to April 2018 he worked as a resource person at the Savitribai Phule Pune University’s Department of Law and taught Human Rights and International Law to LL.M students.  

In 2018 Mr. Bokil completed Post Graduate Diploma in International Humanitarian Law from NALSAR, Hyderabad with a distinction. Further he participated in the summer course on ‘Towards an Effective International Criminal Justice System in the Era of the Permanent International Criminal Court- Coordinating and Strengthening Enforcement on National, Regional and International Levels’ organized by Salzburg Law School on International Criminal Law, Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law, Salzburg, Austria from 5th to 15th August, 2018. In December 2018 he cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) in law.

Since 20th August, 2018 he is working as an assistant professor of law at the Post Graduate Department of Law at ILS Law College Pune. Currently Mr. Bokil is pursuing his PhD from Symbiosis International University, on the topic of ‘Exploring Liability for Lethal Autonomous Weapons under International Humanitarian Law.’Mr. Bokil has participated in several national and international conferences and has published articles in journals.

Mr. Bokil has written two notes respectively on International Humanitarian Law and the Law of Outer Space in Marathi Encyclopedia.     ·        

LIFE AS AN ASSISTANT PROFESSOR –  Mr. Bokil started his academic career in 2018 and since then he has taught a variety of subjects namely; International Law, International Institutions, Private International Law, International Economic Law, Jurisprudence and Criminology and Penology, International Law on Air, Space and Sea and  Humanitarian and Refugee Laws. Mr. Bokil has also guided his LL.M. students on their LL.M dissertations.Mr. Bokil believes in imparting novel teaching methods to create an interest for the subject and make them under the concepts better. Mr. Bokil believes in interactive learning
