BACKGROUND- Chandrima Bhattacharya is West Bengal’s, Minister of State for Health and Family welfare, Municipal affairs, Refugee and Rehabilitation and Land and Land reforms.
Chandrima Bhattacharya after obtaining law degree started practicing in the High Court of Calcutta. Till 2011 she continued practicing and then joined politics. In the year 2011, she contested assembly elections from the Dum Dum Uttar constituency of West Bengal and won.
In 2012, she was appointed as Junior Law Minister in October. However, within a month she became cabinet minister and was given the responsibility of Law and Judicial Department (Independent Charge). Later, in 2017, she was again elected as MLA but from Kanthi Dakshin constituency.
Further, in 2021, she was re-elected from her previous constituency, i.e., Dum Dum Uttar constituency. After winning the assembly elections she was appointed as Minister of State of West Bengal and was given responsibility of various portfolios.
