“Tried to create communal Tension”: Mumbai court orders FIR against Ranaut Sisters

Bandra Magistrate court has ordered an FIR to be registered against actor Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel for allegedly trying to create communal tensions in Mumbai through their actions in social media.

The private complaint filed before court stated that sisters was “creating divisions between communities and spreading communal hatred”

While dealing with the issue metropolitian magistrate Jaydeo Khule said, “On prima facie perusal of complaint and submissions… I found the cognizable offence has been committed by the accused. Total allegations are based upon comment on electronic media — Twitter and interviews.

The accused used social media like Twitter. The thorough investigation is necessary by the expert… search and seizure is necessary in this case,” Magistrate passed the order for police station to investigate the complaint.

The complaint was filed by a casting director and fitness trainer, Munawwar Ali Sayyed. He filed complaint through advocate Ravish Zamindar. In his complaint, Sayyed alleged that Ranaut has continuously been defaming the Bollywood film industry as a hub of nepotism, drug addicts etc, through her social media handles and tweets.

The complaint also drew the attention of court towards the tweet by Ranaut over the past few months in which she referred Mumbai as POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir).

The complaint referred to certain sections of IPC i.e. Section 153A, 295A, 124 read with 34, have been committed by Ranaut and Chandel through their interviews and social media handles.

At last in conclusion the complaint said, “Police Investigation is necessary as to ascertain the real motive behind such hate tweets and who are the people backing such hatred to create communal tensions and sentiments against the government,”
