Sabka Vishwas- the indirect tax scheme has been challenged in the Bombay High Court because taxpayers still have to approach the court to avail of the benefits.

The complainant said that some companies are unable to settle their indirect tax disputes through it.

Earlier the scheme was challenged before the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

“The objective of Sabka Vishwas scheme to reduce litigation gets completely defeated when the taxpayers have to again approach the courts for issues,” said Abhishek A Rastogi, partner at Khaitan & Co.

The Sabka Vishwas scheme, 2019, was introduced to settle tax-related disputes. It was brought as a relief to the taxpayers in the closure of tax disputes.

The taxpayers were guaranteed substantial relief by the government through full waivers of fines and penalties.
