Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pledged at the United Nations that his country’s vaccine production capacity would be made available globally to fight the coronavirus crisis.

PM Narendra Modi in his United Nations General Assembly Speech said India moving ahead with third-phase trial before mass production as country’s cases, deaths surge.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech said- “As the largest vaccine-producing country of the world, I want to give one more assurance to the global community today”.

PM added- “India’s vaccine production and delivery capacity will be used to help all humanity in fighting this crisis”.

Modi said India was moving ahead with phase three clinical trials – the large-scale trials considered the gold standard for determining safety and efficacy – and would help all countries enhance their cold chain and storage capacities for the delivery of vaccines.

Narendra Modi said in August that India was ready to mass-produce COVID-19 vaccines when scientists gave the go-ahead.

After few hours WHO chief hails Modi’s assurance of India’s vaccine production prowess to help nations fight COVID-19.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in his address to of UN General Assembly, PM Modi said that “as the largest vaccine producing country of the world, I want to give one more assurance to the global community today. India’s vaccine production and delivery capacity will be used to help all humanity in fighting this crisis”
