A Public Interest Litigation has been filed before the Madhya Pradesh High Court concerning the spread of pollution by wedding banquet halls in the city of Indore.
The Petition was filed in the Indore Bench of the High Court by Jitendra Badjatya through Advocate K. K. Gupta.
The following allegations were made by the petitioner:
1) Instead of following the guidelines prescribed for disposal of wastes, the banquet halls are leaving food wastes in drains thereby leading to blockages therein.
2) There is no parking area within the hall and therefore visitors are parking their vehicles on the roads causing traffic jams.
3) The surrounding area is also suffering from noise pollution due to loudspeakers late at night.
The petition states that despite several complaints, the authorities have not taken any action.
