Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Cell officers busted a drug trafficking network running in the national capital via darknet for illegal selling.
A private investigator arrested four people connected to the case and seized Amphetamine, worth around Rs one crore in the international market.
A comprehensive investigation into the matter is ongoing, as a syndicate used herbal supplement packets to hide psychotropic drugs from law enforcement officials.
Deputy Director (operations) KPS Malhotra, NCB stated, “In all, 34 seizures have been made in the last 10 days in various parts of Delhi, UP, and Uttarakhand. The drugs were meant to be shipped to the USA, the UK, Europe, and other countries’’. The seizures include 30.5 lakh tablets of psychotropic drugs, 70,000 Codeine-based cough syrups and 14.9 kg of Amphetamine.
Rakesh Asthana, the Director-General of the NCB, talked about psychotropic drug diversion and mentioned this operation at International Narcotics Control Board’s conference on Drugs and Crime.
As per the investigation, the shippers are mainly located in Delhi-NCR and are using false names. One of the shippers, Kapil Agarwal, was arrested as a result of the backtrack probe. He admitted to getting his drugs in Agra and led the cops to his associate Arun Goyal.
Goyal then directed the investigators to a pharmaceutical company in Haridwar that was diverting psychotropic drugs to the traffickers. Two more citizens, Somdatt and Manish Gupta were detained during the raid.
