The Kerala High Court issued Electronic Filing Rules for Courts to all courts in the state.
The new rules require e-filing for all cases in Kerala’s courts.
If an individual is unable to access the e-filing portal, they must go to a designated counter and pay the necessary fees.
Files larger than 10 MB in size must be filed at a specified counter.
The Rules state that online electronic filing for the High Court must be done through the High Court website or a portal designated explicitly for electronic filing by the Chief Justice.
It is specified that online electronic filing shall be made either at the website of the Subordinate Courts or Tribunals or at the web portal created specifically for filing in the specific courts. If all other methods fail, the Court will allow routine filing.
The rules require advocates/parties-in-person to register in the Court Electronic Filing Portal, the process for which will be posted on the court’s website soon.
According to the Rules, the account user ID assigned by the Registry must be linked to a mobile number and a working email address.
Allowances can be made by the Court if required to alleviate hardship.
