Renowned legal luminary and esteemed advocate of the Supreme Court, Fali S Nariman, has passed away at the age of 95.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, acknowledging Nariman’s profound impact, described him as one of the foremost legal minds and intellectuals of our time. Modi highlighted Nariman’s lifelong dedication to ensuring justice for all, expressing sorrow at his demise and extending condolences to his family and well-wishers.

Born into a Parsi family in Myanmar on January 10, 1929, Nariman commenced his legal career at the Bombay High Court. Remarkably, at the age of 38, despite being below the minimum qualifying age, he declined an offer to become a High Court judge.

Since 1971, Nariman served as a senior advocate of the Supreme Court and held the prestigious position of President of the Bar Association of India from 1991 to 2010. His contributions were recognized with some of the nation’s highest civilian honors, including the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan.

In a heartfelt tribute, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta emphasized that Nariman’s passing isn’t just a loss for the legal community but for the entire nation, mourning the departure of a towering intellect and sage wisdom.
