Tis Hazari Court in Delhi has issued a notice to singer Yo Yo Honey Singh, on a case filed by his wife, Shalini Talwar under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.
Honey Singh was served with a notice by Tis Hazari Court Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tania Singh, who also set an August 28 hearing date.
While seeking the response of the singer, the Magistrate also passed interim orders restraining him from disposing of his jointly owned property, stridhan owned by his wife, etc.
The applicant wife has filed a complaint with the Court under section 12 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, alleging that Singh and his family members were brash and violent towards her and that Singh has a history of criminal intimidation, hurt, and brutal violence against people who refuse to comply with his demands.
Shalini accused Honey Singh of drunkenness and adultery in her plea. He had ‘casual intercourse with several women,’ she claimed, and he refused to take her on his singing tours. He also stopped wearing his wedding band, which she said was bad luck because he was wearing diamonds.
Shalini further claims that she is constantly afraid because the respondents have threatened her with physical harm.
The petitioner further claims that Singh and his family members have been cruel to her and have tormented her to the point of death and that she is entitled to compensation from them.
“The Respondent showed no shame in attacking, browbeating, manhandling, cheating, being disloyal, and causing irreparable harm to the woman he was supposed to cherish and protect”, the plea reads further.
Yo Yo Honey Singh is yet to issue a statement, in response to the claims.
Additionally, an interim compensation of Rs.10 Crores is also sought from Singh and his family.
