On Wednesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended RK Gupta, the former Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of WAPCOS Limited, a public sector company, along with his wife Reema Single and son Gaurav, for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets. The CBI also carried out searches and found approximately Rs 38.38 crore in cash so far.
Searches were conducted yesterday at multiple locations across Delhi, Gurugram, Chandigarh, Sonipat & Ghaziabad at the premises of the accused.
According to allegations, the accused started a private consultancy under the name of a private company in Delhi after retiring, and used the profits to purchase flats and commercial properties in Delhi, Gurugram, Panchkula, Sonepat, and Chandigarh.
As a result of raids at 19 locations across Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Sonepat, and Ghaziabad, the CBI seized Rs 38.8 crore in cash, a significant amount of jewelry, valuable items, and incriminating documents.
Gupta was recently charged with accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, leading to the registration of an FIR against him and his family members, including his wife Reema Singal, son Gaurav Singal, and daughter-in-law Komal Singal.
On Tuesday, CBI teams conducted searches at his premises and seized Rs 20 crore in cash, as well as documents related to properties and other valuables.
