Tragedy struck early today as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) lawmaker G Lasya Nanditha lost her life in a road accident on the Outer Ring Road in Telangana’s Sangerddy district, just outside Hyderabad. The incident occurred around 6:30 am when Nanditha was returning to the city.
According to police reports cited by Hindustan Times, the accident transpired when the driver lost control of the Sports Utility Vehicle (Maruti XL6), causing it to collide with the metal barrier on the expressway. Unfortunately, Nanditha succumbed to her injuries on the spot, while the driver sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby private hospital in Patancheru, where his condition is reported to be critical.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed his sorrow over Nanditha’s untimely demise, recalling his close association with her father, the late Swargiya Sayanna. He lamented the tragic coincidence of Nanditha’s passing in the same month as her father’s demise the previous year, extending his heartfelt condolences to their grieving family.
This unfortunate incident follows a near miss for Nanditha on February 13, when she narrowly escaped minor injuries in another traffic accident at Marriguda junction. At that time, she reassured concerned well-wishers through social media that she was unharmed.
Nanditha, the daughter of former BRS legislator late G Sayanna, was a respected figure within the party and the community. Her victory in the Secunderabad Cantonment assembly constituency during the November assembly elections underscored her popularity and commitment to public service.
Hailing from a political family background, Nanditha’s contributions as a corporator in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and her active involvement in party activities earned her the trust and support of the BRS leadership.
As the news of her tragic demise spreads, tributes pour in from colleagues, constituents, and well-wishers, mourning the loss of a dedicated public servant and expressing solidarity with her bereaved family.
