The Special CBI Court in Mumbai rejected Bail Applications against Yes Bank Founder Rana Kapoor’s wife, Bindu Kapoor and their two daughters, Radha and Roshni Kapoor, in a Corruption proceeding involving Dewan Housing Financial Limited (DHFL).

A Special Judge SU Wadgoankar observed, “Considering the gravity and nature of the offence and in the larger interest of society, as the accused are involved in causing wrongful loss to the huge public money of Rs.4000 crores, the applications deserve to be rejected.”

The Court further stated, “The accused involved in a grave offence affecting the economy of the Country and continuing to reap the benefits of the crime committed by them, do not deserve any indulgence or any sympathy for being women or mothers of small kids.”

The Bail hearing was in connection with the Yes Bank-DHFL quid pro quo case registered by the CBI last year.

Rana Kapoor, his wife Bindu, and their daughters Rakhee, Radha, and Roshni, as well as DHFL promoter Kapil Wadhawan, have all been criminally charged in the case.

According to the CBI, during 2018 and 2019, Kapoor conspired with Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan to provide financial assistance to the latter’s enterprises in exchange for “Substantial undue benefit” to Kapoor and his family through Companies controlled by them.

Accordingly, the Court remanded them to Judicial Custody till September 23.
