In the process of clearing pending recommendations made by the Supreme Court to Centre, Union Government notified the appointment of Senior Advocate Wasim Sadiq Nargal as first Muslim Judge from Jammu to be Additional Judge in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court.
In the year 2017, J&K High Court collegiums first approved his name to be a High Court Judge then Supreme Court Collegiums in 2018 approved his name and made a recommendation to the Centre.
The Union Law Ministry and Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) approved the appointment of Nargal last week as according to the reports. The notification from Department of Justice has now finally confirmed his name.
The Department of Justice has also issued notification regarding transfer of Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav who is presently serving in Madhya Pradesh High Court to the Delhi High Court.
Judges from Supreme Court had objected his transfer.
