A Delhi court has allowed protection from detainment to Shantanu Muluk till 9th March, 2021.
Additional Sessions Judge Dharmender Rana allowed the relief order after the Delhi Police said it required more time to lead further cross examination prior to documenting a response to Muluk’s anticipatory bail plea.
Additional Public Prosecutor Irfan Ahmed requested for granting seven days time to document a detailed report by stating that the examining officer needs to interrogate him as there are conflicting answers given by the accused.
Advocate Vrinda Grover, representing Muluk, said that she has no issues except for requesting the court to allow his interim protection.
The sitting judge accepted the pleadings, issued a notice to the police restraining them from taking any contradictory actions against Muluk till March 9, and posted the matter for further hearing on the said date.
Prosecutor Ahmed said that he has guidelines that there will be no contradictory activity against him.
Shantanu, alongside environmental activist Disha Ravi, is allegedly accused of purportedly being associated with sharing a “toolkit” on online media that is related to the ongoing Farmer’s protest.
Shantanu Muluk had joined co-accused 21-year-old activist Disha Ravi at the Delhi Police Cyber Cell office for additional investigation in the case. A Delhi Court had allowed bail to Disha Ravi on February 23,2021
Disha was detained from Bengaluru regarding the creation and spread of the ‘toolkit’ document, in connection with the farmer’s protest. She is alleged to be one of the editors for the ‘toolkit’ document.
On February 3, 2021 Swedish activist Greta Thunberg had shared this ‘toolkit’ through a post on twitter, which she later removed. Greta had additionally supported the farmer’s who are protesting on Delhi borders expressing their disapproval of the newly introduced three farm law bills.
