Snehal Upadhyay-
Siddharth Pithani, the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s flatmate, who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in May in connection to the drugs case, has approached the Special Court for bail again.
Last month, he was granted bail for 15 days for getting married after which he surrendered himself to the Court.
This bail plea is his first bail petition on merits. The plea states that as there has been no recovery of any contraband from him and there is still no evidence or any material to indicate that he is or was involved in any kind of dealings of any narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
The plea mentions that the NCB had considered the statement of Sushant Singh Rajput’s house manager and cook that Pithani used to buy ganja but both became hostile witnesses and their statement was considered to be inadmissible as a shred of evidence. It also states that both of them are released on bail along with all other accused in the case from whom no recoveries were made.
The plea further states that the NCB has charged Pithani under section 27A of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for alleged financing and harbouring of offenders, the allegations against him buying and selling drugs does not fall within this scope.
Officers claimed that he was absconding on which he contends in the plea that he was always present before several investigating agencies including the CBI (Crime Bureau of Investigation) and ED (Directorate of Enforcement), he mentioned that he was staying at his home which is in Hyderabad.
The Court will decide on the Plea by this month.
