Uttar Pradesh Chief minister Yogi Adityanath ordered authorities on Wednesday to take strict action against Noida Authority officials accused of alleged irregularities in the construction of twin towers at Supertech Emerald Court.

The action came only one day after the Supreme Court ordered the demolition of 40-story twin towers in Sector 93A, Noida.

The Court had ordered prosecution against the officers of Supertech and the Noida Authority under the Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Act for violating the laws.

The Bench of Justices D Y Chandrachud and MR Shah stated, “The case has revealed a nefarious complicity of the planning authorities in the violation by the developer of the provisions of law.”

The Supreme Court ordered that the entire amount paid by home buyers be refunded, with 12% interest, from the time of booking, and that the Residents Welfare Association be compensated with Rs. 2 crore for the harassment caused by the twin towers’ construction.

The Court also directed Supertech to undertake the demolition at its own expense and complete it within three months under the supervision of the Noida Authority and an expert body such as the Central Building Research Institute.
