After spending roughly 14 days in ED custody for custodial interrogation in connection with the Yes Bank-DHFL case, builder Avinash Bhosale was remanded in judicial custody by a special court established under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
His attorneys Vijay Aggarwal and Rahul Agarwal pleaded for the allowance of home-cooked food, an orthopaedic mattress, and a pillow in prison on behalf of Wadia Ghandi and Co.
The Arthur Road Jail Authorities has been directed by Special Judge MG Deshpande to respond to the plea, and in the interim, it has been given permission for the facilities. The ED had asked that the jail’s response be called first because they were against the provision of these facilities.
The prison may respond in due course, but until then, the facilities can be supplied or it may negatively impact his health, the court remarked, noting that there is particular medical advice for them based on the medical papers produced.
The builder was brought into prison by the ED, which is looking into the money laundering aspect of the fraud, after having been previously detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case and being held by another court.
