On Monday, November 7, the Chief Justice UU Lalit-led ceremonial bench will conduct its final hearings live on the Supreme Court’s website. According to a notice released by the Supreme Court, viewers can view the live feed on the court’s website.
On the previous day of the then-CJI, NV Ramana, August 26, the Supreme Court’s proceedings were also live-streamed for the general public via the National Informatics Centre’s (NIC) webcast.
It was the first time live broadcasting has taken place in the Supreme Court since the 2018 decision that in theory approved live streaming of the Apex Court’s proceedings.
The Supreme Court’s Constitution Bench proceedings are now being live streamed online. Watch the proceedings on the Supreme Court’s website at webcast.gov.in/scindia.
On the final working day, the outgoing Chief Justice of India sits on the bench alongside the new Chief Justice of India. On the final working day before the ceremonial bench, the bar members bid each other farewell.
The CJI-designate and CJI-elect, Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice Bela M. Trivedi will sit on the same bench with CJI Lalit tomorrow.
The computer cell of the Supreme Court stated the following in a notice:
“Please take notice that on the eve of laying down the office of the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, the proceedings of the Hon’ble Chief Justice’ Court i.e., Ceremonial Bench on November 7, 2022, 10:30 A.M. onwards shall be livestreamed on the Supreme Court’s website.”
