The Supreme Court has ordered the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to finalize the Pension scheme within eight weeks.
The Court noted, “At therequest of learned counsel for the appellant, eight weeks’ time is granted as a final opportunity, failing which the Secretary concerned and the head of the appellant Corporation shall both remain present in the Court.”
The Bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and MM Sundresh ruled that if they couldn’t make it, the Secretary and the Corporation’s head must appear before the Court.
These cases raise the issue of calculating the pensions of people assigned as KSRTC drivers, conductors, and mechanics.
Earlier, the Court had granted time to the Kerala Government to formulate a Special scheme for the pensions of concerned people.
When the matter came before the Court last month, the State Government claimed that it was in the middle of drafting a Scheme in consultation with the Corporation. Yesterday, an adjournment was requested once again.
The Court has adjourned the matter until October 27.
