The Supreme Court dismissed the public interest litigation (PIL) case seeking for the declaration of a national holiday on Parakram Diwas, the anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth.
A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justice JB Pardiwala stated that the reasoning given in the plea was not substantial but a mockery of PIL jurisdiction and also stated that the matter actually falls under the jurisdiction of Government of India.
The Court said, “This is a matter for Government of India. What will Supreme Court Do? Take jurisdiction of the court seriously. You are also a lawyer,”

It was stated that, “You can celebrate it by working hard just like how he worked hard for independence…You are making a mockery of the PIL jurisdiction. You like blue skies and then you will come in PIL saying you want blue skies?”
“At least think what the court can do….The 3 minutes that we spent on your petition could have got relief for another litigant you see. Sorry dismissed,”
