The Supreme Court postponed the hearing on the application of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the state government filed against the order given by the Jharkhand High Court. The High Court allowed the PIL maintainability related to the alleged shell companies of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his associates.

The Special Leave Petition was listed before the Bench headed by Justice UU Lalit against the decision given by Jharkhand High Court where the Court rejected the arguments given by Senior Advocates Kapil Sibal and Mukul Rohatgi questioning the maintainability of the two PILs filed against CM and his associates in its 79-page judgement.

The Jharkhand High Court allowed the writ petitions since it involves the issue of siphoning off huge amount of public money, which makes it accountable on the behalf of public interest at large. Therefore, clearly fitting and proper to allow the petition to be heard in court of law.

Although, the Jharkhand Government filed the present Special Leave Petition before apex court against the decision given by Jharkhand High Court. The appointed Bench adjourned the matter for next week as the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta was not in pink of health.

The Jharkhand High Court had been hearing various petitions pertaining to shell companies, the mining lease of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and the MGNREGA scam.
