A Special Court in Bengaluru, responsible for hearing cases against elected representatives, has registered a private complaint against Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, a minister, a government official and 4 members of Yediyurappa’s family over allegations of bribery and money laundering.
Social activist TJ Abraham has filed the complaint on 4 June in relation to the incident of 2020, alleging the Chief Minister and others for corruption in providing clearance to a private firm for a state housing project.
The grounds of the complaint are similar to the complaint Abraham filed before the Enforcement Directorate in 2020. Abraham first alleged the Chief Minister and others for bribery and money laundering charges in November 2020 after the media reportedly brought the matter into the public domain.
The Chief Minister and his family members are alleged for holding the office of the Chief Minister for personal profit and misusing the same by involving themselves in bribery and corruption in the name of a construction project.
Though the matter was listed to be heard on 10 June, the same was postponed after the Chief Minister and others did not appear in the Court.
The matter is now listed for further hearing on 30 June.
