Preity Zinta, who is known for her established career as a leading actress in Hindi cinema shared about her horrifying experience while Testifying against Underworld in Court. She stated it as a ‘scary’ experience.
It was 2001 and Preity Zinta was busy doing the shooting for her film ‘Chori Chori Chupke Chupke’.
At that time, she found herself to be in the danger list when she was continuously receiving threat calls from Underworld gangsters. Preity informed a Court in Mumbai claiming that she received threatening calls asking for Rs 50 lakhs.
While many from the film industry including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Rakesh Roshan who got pointed at that time, retracted their statements about being threatened, Preity stuck to her stand and told the Sessions Court that a gangster was threatening her with extortion. The producer of ‘Chori Chori Chupke Chupke’ Nazim Rizvi and financier Bharat Shah found Accused of grasping funding from Underworld gangsters Chhota Shakeel.
While speaking to India Today at the India Today Conclave East 2018, Preity had said: “For the record, if I knew that everyone was going to back out, I also would have. It was a scary time in my life. I should have been protected. Whatever I said in Court was on TV ten minutes later.”
Preity also revealed that when every co-workers were ‘Paranoid’ foreseeing threat calls, she didn’t give up. She stood firm against the gangsters when they became abusive: “I was fine till they were scaring me, but once they started Abusing, I lost it. I can take stress, but not people abusing me. I learnt that if you get a call from +92 , don’t pick up! Luckily I was famous. Had I not been, it would’ve been tough.”
She explained the reason behind testifying in Court while others backed out, Preity Said, “I didn’t have a family, I didn’t have children .”
