A Special Prevention of Money Laundering (Act) Court on Tuesday revoked all warrants issued against Nirav Modi’s brother-in-law Mainak Mehta.
In 2018, Non-Bailable Warrants were issued against Nirav Modi’s sister Purvi and her husband Mainak Mehta for their connection to the Punjab National Bank (PNB) fraud case.
The Court has now ordered Mainak Mehta to cooperate with the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is probing the money laundering aspects of the giant scam allegedly perpetrated by Nirav Modi and his maternal uncle Mehul Choksi.
The Court further ordered him to notify the ED before leaving the country.
Purvi Mehta and Mainak Mehta have consented to become approvers in the case.
Enforcement Directorate had previously recorded Mainak Mehta’s statement on video conference, which it needed to confirm.
The Court ordered Mainak Mehta to deposit a cash bond of Rs. 50,000 as security and revoked all warrants issued against him.
Today, Mainak Mehta’s attorney appeared before a Special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Court in connection with a money laundering case involving Nirav Modi and others.
