A Special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Court on January 27, 2022 rejected the Bail application of co-accused Anuj Keshwani in the drug case related to death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The Petitioner was allegedly found to be in possession of drug LSD which is restricted in India under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. LSD is a hallucinogenic narcotic drug which is supposed to be consumed by placing it on small dots on a blotter paper.
Anuj Keshwani was arrested in 2020 and has been in Taloja Central Prison since then. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) contended that Anuj Keshwani was found with 0.62 gram of LSD in 2020.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) had filed a Petition in the Bombay High Court challenging an order of a Special Court Judge. The Petition sought re-examination of the blotter paper that was seized from Anuj Keshwani.
It was alleged by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) that even the blotter paper used by Keshwani for consumption of LSD contained the drug which was not considered for testing by the laboratory.
The Bombay High Court in this regard had asked the Gujarat Forensic Science Laboratory in November 2021, to submit a report to the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Court in order to determine whether the blotter paper contained LSD or not.
