For individuals in Delhi who have been issued traffic challans related to their vehicle registration numbers, there exists the possibility of petitioning the District Magistrate to either decrease the imposed fines or entirely remit the challans. This applies to a wide range of traffic violations, including issues such as insurance, red light violations, speeding, overspeeding, and pollution-related infractions. Such individuals have the option to appear in court during the National Lok Adalat and request a reduction in fines or the dismissal of their tickets.
The announcement regarding this event was disseminated by the Delhi Traffic Police through their official Twitter account.
As per their communication, all traffic violation tickets, whether issued to private or commercial vehicles, will be addressed at the National Lok Adalat.
The event is scheduled to take place on October 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individuals with outstanding challans or those seeking a reduction in their challan amounts can visit their nearest court participating in the National Lok Adalat during this time frame. To settle their cases, violators are required to obtain an e-challan and subsequently make a reservation.
