Shivangi Prakash-
Raj Kundra, the businessman and husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, was remanded in police custody by a Mumbai Court in connection with a pornographic film racket case.
Kundra was charged under the Indian Penal Code’s Sections 292, 293 (sale of obscene material), the Information Technology Act’s Sections 67, 67A (transmission of sexually explicit material), and provisions of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
He was arrested by Mumbai Police and taken to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court at Esplanade for remand.

Kundra was accused of profiting from his company’s production of pornographic films and videos, according to the prosecution.
The authorities discovered a large amount of foreign currency in the company’s account during their preliminary examination. The police also wanted to question Kundra about the contents of his phone and comments made by co-accused in the case.
Kundra’s lawyer, Senior Advocate Abad Ponda, contended that the custody request was unconstitutional because just two of the charges against him were non-bailable.
He contended that the police should explain to the Court why further investigation in the matter cannot be conducted without taking Kundra into prison, and why no summons under Section 41 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) could be issued to question him before his detention.
The CMM at Esplanade remanded Kundra to police custody after hearing both parties at length.
