The Madhya Pradesh Government on Thursday allowed an enhanced 27% reservation which earlier was 14% for OBC in the State.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led BJP government, implemented the reservation in Public Services and all other Government recruitments.
The reservation is not applied for school education, health and medical education.
Madhya Pradesh Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh said, “Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led Madhya Pradesh government has cleared 27 per cent (from 14 per cent) reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) for all departments, excluding the three departments which were put on stay. It’s a historic decision.”
The Order was issued by General Administration Department (GAD) and it came in force when High Court refused to vacate stay on the hiring of 29,000 teachers for which the quota was applied.
The GAD before issuing the Order discussed the matter with Advocate General Purushendra Kaurav and asked for his advice.
“Some petitions have been filed in the court to challenge it (the ordinance) but Advocate General, who gave a legal opinion in the court on August 25, clearly said that barring three departments, the increased reservation can be implemented in all the direct recruitments and examinations,” said the GAD in its Order.
