Mehul Choksi blames agencies of Indian law enforcement for trying to kidnap him and says that he was “permanently scarred”.
Mehul Choksi who is wanted by Indian Judicial authorities in accusation for Punjab National Bank scam was jailed in Dominica and returned to Antigua and Barbuda after being jailed.
“I’m back home but this torture has left permanent scars on my psychology and physically rather than permanent scars on my soul. I couldn’t imagine after closing all my business and seizing all my properties, kidnapping attempts would be made on me by Indian agencies,” Choksi commented.
Choksi was granted bail by the High Court of Dominica. He was granted bail on the grounds of medical help which he wanted from a neurologist in Antigua. The Court asked him to deposit the bail of 10,000 East Caribbean Dollars.
While seeking bail, he had attached his medical reports which included a CT scan that depicted “mildly worsening hematoma”. An urgent checkup was recommended by his doctor, considering these factors the Court granted him bail.
Choksi was detained because he was charged for illegal entry by the police in Dominica.
Though, his lawyers contended that he was kidnapped from Jolly Harbour in Antigua by Policemen who resembled Antiguan and Indian and was brought to Dominica in a boat.
Last month, India sent an eight-member multi-agency team to Dominica to bring Choksi back to India but this attempt failed because it was obstructed by the Court proceedings, hence the agency returned India empty-handed.
